Raymond Edward Blankenship, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by those who love him on October 17, 2025, in Kermit, Texas, at the age of 58. Born on February 27, 1967, in Jacksonville, Florida, Raymond embraced life with an open heart and an unwavering commitment to his family.
Raymond married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Blankenship, on June 29, 1989, in Kermit, Texas. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, travel, and cherished memories. For over 25 years, Raymond dedicated himself to the oil industry as a driller before transitioning to working for The City Kermit, where he continued to serve his community with pride.
Known for his strong work ethic and gentle spirit, Raymond was a true family man, he treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren, whether it was on the golf course, enjoying spirited games of cornhole, or showing off his barbecue skills always making his famous hot wings. Raymond's zest for life was reflected in his love of travel. He enjoyed embarking on road trips with Betty, always preferring to drive so that he could take in the sights along the way. His warmth, kindness, and humor will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Betty Blankenship of Kermit, TX.; his sons, Joe Albert Pando and wife Jacinda of Kermit, TX., Jonathan Blankenship and wife Ashly of Midland, TX., Justen Blankenship and wife Holley of Kermit TX., and Gabriel Blankenship of Kermit, TX.; his daughters, Abigail Blankenship and Isabell Blankenship both of Kermit, TX.; his brothers, Robin Blankenship and wife Dee of Reidsville, GA., Roger Blankenship of Reidsville, GA., and Kevin Blankenship of Wink, TX.; his sister, Rhonda Brewster and husband Don of Minot, ND.; and his 6 cherished grandchildren, Anaya, Jace, Kainin, Londynn, Stetson, Ellory, and one on the way. Raymond's legacy of love will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dummer and Janice Blankenship
Visitation will be held from 1:00PM - 8:00PM, Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Kermit Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00PM, Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Kermit Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest at the Kermit Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Marty Belcourt, Pete Navarette, Joshua Stephenson, Martin Porras, Noli Villegas, and Scott Eaton.
