Clay Carroll

Oliver Clayton Carroll, known to many as Clay, entered the Golden Gates of Heaven, Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the age of 88. Clay was born June 10, 1937, to H.E. & Addie Carroll in Stratford, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life Glendola Smith Carroll on March 18, 1960, and spent 50 years together till her passing in 2010.

Clay was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He entered the Army in 1956 and was deployed to South Korea where he would be the head cook, MP, Corporal Carroll was in the 7th Infantry Division and 101st Airborne Division. He said he loved parachuting out of those big planes. After he married in 1960, he and his family lived in Wink, Texas and he worked in the oil field. In 1968 he loaded his family up and moved to Tulia, Texas where he began farming, he worked on the farm until his retirement and decided to return to Wink, Texas. After retiring, he was always on the move, never slowing down. He began working as a maintenance supervisor for the Winkler County Memorial Hospital for the next 1O years. Clay was the hardest working man ever known.

Anyone who knew or even met him for the first time loved him and became his lifelong friend. He never met a stranger. He loved to work with his hands, building birdhouses, working on lawn equipment or household appliances and loved fishing. He loved the outdoors, loved beautifying his yard or garden. Clay had an amazing green thumb when it came to outdoor gardening. He never missed a chance to help others, always there if you needed a hand. He worked hard, He lived hard, He loved hard and he will be missed dearly by many.
