Lynette Torres, affectionately known as Nanny by her grandchildren and Big Mama by countless friends and family, departed this life on June 10, 2025, in Kermit, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and an unwavering spirit that defined her existence. Born on April 22, 1967 in the Bronx, New York, Lynette possessed a vibrant personality that drew people to her, making her the heart of her family.
Lynette was known for her selflessness and strength, qualities that held her family together through life's most challenging moments. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel at home, ensuring that no one ever left her house hungry. Lynette provided not only nourishment but also comfort and wisdom that were woven into every interaction. Whether it was the shirt off her back or her last bite of food, she gave without hesitation, embodying the true spirit of generosity.
A passionate cook and devoted grandmother, she relished the time spent with her grandchildren: Hayden, Elijah, Jade, Alex, Timothy, and Audrey. Her love for family extended to open conversations with anyone, as she was very outspoken and candid, never hesitating to share her thoughts.
Lynette is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Torres; her sons, Thomas Torres Jr., Ralph Torres, and Joseph Torres, along with his wife, Sylvana; and her daughter, Jessica Torres. She is also survived by her brothers, Nicky Russo, Henry Rivera, and Joseph Thomas, and her sister, Josie DeMicco. The bonds she formed with her family and friends will continue to resonate in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Audrey DeMicco, as well as her sister, Gina Marie Russo. Lynette's vibrant spirit and enduring legacy will be forever cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering support will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, a true testament to a life lived with love and purpose.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00AM, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Joseph / St. Thomas Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM-7:00PM, at the Kermit Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to follow from 7:00PM-9:00PM. Arrangements are under the personal care of Kermit Funeral Home.
