With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lucia "Lucy" Esparza, who left this world peacefully on August 6, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on December 31, 1948, in Sierra Blanca, Texas, Lucy's journey was defined by her unwavering love for her family, and her faith.

Lucy made her home in Monahans for the past 40 years, where she was a cherished member of the community. She dedicated 26 years of her life as the lead cook for the Ward County Sheriff's Department, where her warmth and culinary skills nourished not only the body but also the spirit of those around her. She was a true homebody at heart, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life: reading her Bible, listening to her music, engaging in spirited games of SkipBo, and, of course, cooking meals filled with love for her family and friends.

Lucy is survived by her loving son, Danny Esparza and wife Alma of Monahans, TX., brothers, Jose Morales Jr. of Monahans, TX., Carlos Morales and wife Barbra of Sierra Blanca, TX., and Chuy Morales and wife Linda of Gallup, NM., sister, Elisa Salgado and husband Nino of Monahans, TX., grandchildren, Marcus Esparza of Odessa, TX., Brianna Maria Esparza of Midland, TX., and Danelle Alexandra Esparza of Midland, TX., along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Dolores Morales, brother, Manuel Morales, and her 4 sisters, Socorro Morales, Andrea Ramirez, Josefina Ramirez, and Mary Cave.

As we reflect on Lucy's beautiful spirit and the joy she brought into our lives, we encourage everyone to share their memories and celebrate the warmth she shared with us all. Rest in peace, dear Lucy; you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
