Lanny Walter Vanskike, a devoted family man and proud veteran, passed away on December 4, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas at the age of 85. Born on April 26, 1940, in Moberly, Missouri, Lanny lived a life characterized by hard work, deep affection for his family, and a passion for the simple pleasures life has to offer.

Lanny dedicated 43 years of his life to working as a pipefitter for Brown & Root, retiring in 2004. Following his retirement, he continued to showcase his strong work ethic by serving as a hot shot driver for Fastway for over a decade.

A proud veteran of the United States Army from 1960 to 1962, Lanny served in Germany, where he had the important responsibility of delivering clean water. His service reflected his commitment to others and highlighted the character he displayed throughout his life.

Lanny was known for his love of fishing and his enthusiasm for fast cars, which was most evident during his cherished Saturday drives in his 1997 Mustang convertible. He also found joy in watching NASCAR, relishing the thrill and excitement it brought. Lanny was a simple, hardworking man who took great pride in the little things that brought him happiness.

Lanny leaves behind a loving family that includes his children, Kristi Williams and her husband Scott of Kermit, Texas; Lanny "Keith" Vanskike and his wife Stephanie of Beaumont, Texas; and Tom Vanskike and his wife Christine of Castle Rock, Washington, along with his sister, Barbara Anders and her husband Bill of Houston, Texas. He was also a proud grandfather to Jacob Lindsay and his wife Gina of New Waverly, Texas, and "Lanny” James Vanskike of Beaumont, Texas, as well as a great-grandson to Lanny "Baylor" Vanskike.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Vanskike, parents, John and Opal Vanskike, as well as by his brothers, Richard Vanskike and Billy Vanskike, and his sister, Diana Alcorn.
