Obituary for James Odell Mormon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Odell Mormon, known to most as Joe or Joe Daddy, who left this life on January 18, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on April 24, 1954, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Joe lived a life full of adventure.

Joe was a proud member of the Victory Baptist Church in Hobbs, where he found solace and strength in his faith. He was also a dedicated member of the Sons of the American Legion showcasing his dedication to honoring those who have served our country.

Professionally, Joe worked as a compressor operator for many years, a career that showcased his dedication and work ethic. Outside of work, Joe was passionate about life-he loved riding motorcycles and was an avid gun collector, rarely passing up an opportunity to spend a day at the range.

Joe is survived by a host of good friends and buddies who will forever remember his infectious zest for life. His spirit was vibrant, and he leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to resonate in the lives he touched.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Theda Mormon.

In this time of loss, let us remember the laughter and joy James brought into our lives, and may his memory inspire us to ride boldly forward, just as he did.
