Christopher W. Rushing
Christopher Wesley Rushing, known affectionately as Chris, was born on March 12, 1957, in Kermit, Texas. He passed away on September 28, 2025, in Odessa, Texas, leaving behind a rich legacy and a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Chris's love for the outdoors was evident in everything he did. He thrived while hunting, fishing, and barbecuing, with his family often proclaiming that he had the best barbecue around. A true connoisseur of food, Chris had an adventurous palate and relished the opportunity to explore new culinary delights.
At the age of 17, Chris embarked on a career in welding, a craft he would dedicate his life to mastering. His knowledge and skills took him to various places, including Minnesota and Wyoming, before he eventually returned home to Kermit. Described by his family as the smartest person they knew, Chris's intelligence was largely self-taught, demonstrating his dedication and passion for his work.
A collector of classic cars, Chris's enthusiasm for his hobbies extended beyond the workshop and kitchen to his cherished canine companion, Jake. Their bond was special, and Jake was known as Chris's best friend, accompanying him wherever he went.
Chris was not only a talented welder and a food enthusiast; he was first and foremost a loving father. He approached parenting with an understanding spirit, allowing his children to learn valuable lessons through their own experiences, always ready to guide them towards the right way afterward. His fairness in all dealings was a hallmark of his personality.
In addition to his family and passions, Chris cherished his friendship with Jason and Murphy "Gator", who remained a steadfast support throughout his life, whether it be bringing food or just sitting and talking with him throughout his illness, or helping his children though the years these two always had his back.
He is survived by his fiancée, Donna Egger of Kermit, TX; his son, Cody Rushing of Kermit, TX; his daughters, Crystal Rushing of Gray, TX, and Monica Rushing-Hightower and her husband Ross of Lamesa, TX; his brother, Gerald Rushing and his wife Bobbie of Oil City, LA; his sister, Regina Rushing of Oil City, LA; along with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Melba M. Rushing, and his grandson, Nathan Lindsey.
His legacy, marked by love, craftsmanship, and a zest for life, will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
