Beatrice Prieto Cook's Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beatrice Prieto Cook, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who left this world on March 27, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on August 9, 1950, in Kermit, Texas, Beatrice spent her life as a devoted homemaker, pouring her love and care into her family and friends.

Bea was a proud member of the Temple Tabernacle Baptist Church for four years. Her faith was a guiding light for her, and she truly loved attending church and being part of that community. She had a passion for the outdoors-whether it was camping under the stars or simply watching others fish (even if she wasn't a fan of fishing herself). Coloring was one of her favorite ways to relax and unwind, and often, you'd find her engrossed in her coloring books, finding calm in the simple strokes of color.

Many knew her as a dedicated babysitter who took care of many little ones over the years. Family was important to Bea, despite the distances life sometimes placed between them, she always made the effort to be close, traveling just to be near her loved ones. She was known for being a lively spirit-quick to speak her mind and never afraid to dive into a good argument, reflecting a feistiness that was uniquely hers.

One of Bea's endearing quirks was her love of pictures. She was a devoted "hoarder" of photos, constantly snapping pictures with her phone or "borrowing" them from her family's Facebook pages to print and store in her treasured photo albums. Each snapshot was a piece of her heart, capturing memories she never wanted to forget. She loved getting her hair and nails done, singing childhood Spanish church songs, and she never turned down a Wal-Mart gift card.

Bea leaves behind her loving husband of 29 years William Cook of Odessa, TX., son, Noli Villegas and wife Beronica of Midland, TX., daughters, Yvonne Ramos and husband Jamie of Kermit, TX., and Corina Villegas of Alexandria, VA., sisters, Carmen P. Solis of Pecos, TX., and Adela Mata of Odessa, TX., grandchildren, Amanda, JJ, David, Alexis, April, Marissa, and Daniel, and great grandchildren Liam, and Aria.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Angel and Dolores Prieto, as well as her siblings Angel Jr., Manuel, Pete, Juan, and Alicia Posada.

Beatrice will be remembered not just for her spirited nature but for the warmth and care she generously shared with those around her. Rest easy, Bea-you were truly one of a kind and will be missed dearly.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Bea's life with a Visitation, Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Kermit Funeral Home.
